Although the artist Kawai Keiko passed away in 2010, she left behind more than 40 pieces of her phenomenal work. Tragically, since her passing, many of these pieces had been largely ignored, left to collect dust at her last home.
However, now, her loving family has decided to organize her work and present it here for the world to appreciate and enjoy.
Kawai Keiko (1927-2010) was born and raised in Okayama City, Okayama. Throughout her life, she admired the talent of a nationally known artist, Sakata Kazuo (1889-1956). Of note, Sakata had developed mutual trust with famous artist Kawahara Shuhei (1915-1974), who established Tosoku-kai with Sakata as a consultant for his students in 1955. It is here, as a proud member of the Tosoku-kai, where Kawai grew her skills as an artist. She participated in exhibitions frequently, under the lifelong mentorship of Kawahara.
We would be delighted if take some time to appreciate her diverse and stunning artwork.
